Dear Dalhousie Families,
From April 11 – April 28, 2023, students will be participating in a movement/Mission Impossible unit in physical education. Within all physical education units, students have opportunities to develop their individual skill level, share their accomplishments and experience the satisfaction of teamwork in a safe and non-threatening atmosphere. In order for students to stay safe and have an enhanced learning experience, we ask that students follow the expectations listed below. We would like each student to review these guidelines with their parents as it will help them better understand the importance we place on safety.
Student Expectations:
No jewelry, loose clothing, skirts or dresses should be worn during the unit
Bare feet or gymnastics slippers can be worn on feet
All long hair must be tied back or up
Students will work independently or in small groups
Students should work quietly as they practice movements as noise can distract others and may cause falls
Children will only do what they are comfortable doing.
Pyramid building is not an approved activity
Students must land on their seat on the crash mat
Although some students have had private gymnastics training, no aerial stunts such as dive rolls, somersaults, flips, head springs or hand springs are allowed as these do not fit into the curriculum.
Student safety is of the utmost importance at Dalhousie. Please review these expectations with your child.
